PartyPoker Review

PartyPoker is a long-established name in the online poker market. Although its availability has declined due to worldwide legislation, many nations are still able to access the room. Although PartyPoker has been embroiled in some controversies recently, its commitment to producing televised poker proves that the company is stable and will around for many years to come.

PartyPoker Review - Overall 6 out of 10

PartyPoker has been in the online poker market since 2001, making it one of the original pioneers of the game on the Internet. The site was originally available to players across the world, including those in the USA. PartyPoker pulled out of this market several years ago and left several European countries earlier this year too. Nevertheless, it is still a popular site where available retains ties with the United States via its ownership of the World Poker Tour.

PartyPoker is practically unique in that it does not allow real money play for players who have not made a deposit. As a result, one cannot take part in PartyPoker freerolls without investing money first. This has drawn criticism from many players, but this is just a portion of recent fierce negativity against the site. PartyPoker have a very high rate of rake and high tournament entry fees, which has disillusioned some former regulars.

Navigation is easy within the PartyPoker client, with a user-friendly display at the top of the lobby allowing selection of game type, buy-in and other features. The spread of games is disappointing, in spite of a selection between hold'em, omaha and stud. All single table sit 'n' gos below the $3 level are turbo events, while even the standard speed games beyond this are rather fast by usual standards. Low stakes players may also be frustrated by the lack of tournaments and ring game options in comparison to what is offered to higher rollers.

PartyPoker keep pace with the current trends in online poker. This is demonstrated by their innovation of FastForward poker, which is a clone of the popular Rush Poker format, allowing quick-folding and the ability to see many more hands than is possible on a standard table.

Player Rewards – PartyPoints 7 out of 10

Players earn PartyPoints as they pay entry fees and pay ring game rake. At the PartyPoker Points Store, these points can be exchanged for PartyPoker merchandise, electronic items or cash rewards. The opportunity to exchange points for money is an excellent feature of the system.

PartyPoker players climb the rewards level as they earn points. Each level gives players access to better freerolls, rakeback and exclusive store items. Palladium level players can aslo make free cashouts.

Tournaments - 8 out of 10

Although PartyPoker has a number of excellent tournaments, it must be noted that they controversially cancelled a series of guaranteed games while it was in progress recently.

PartyPoker currently runs:

- Road to Old Trafford - tournament series winner qualifies for a poker game against Manchester United Legends

- $50,000 of monthly freerolls

- $1500 New Player Freeroll

- $250,000 of guarantees every Sunday

- WSOP satellites

Training - 9 out of 10

One has to applaud PartyPoker's 'How To Play' website section. This is handily divided into sections, denoting advice for beginners, intermediates and experts of the game. PartyPoker pros Mike Sexton, Tony 'G' and Kara Scott have contributed to many of these articles.

Traffic – 8 out of 10

In spite of a restricted amount of countries being able to access PartyPoker nowadays, its traffic levels are consistently steady. Between 10,000 and 20,000 players populate the site throughout the day and night.

Deposits/Withdrawals – 7 out of 10

PartyPoker accept deposits and withdrawals from all major debit and credit cards, as well as the leading online wallets including NETELLER, PayPal and MoneyBookers.

Annoyingly, PartyPoker do charge a £1.50 fee on most transactions.
