PokerStars Partners with Resorts Casino to Access U.S. Market

After many false dawns, online poker giant PokerStars has finally agreed to a partnership with a land-based New Jersey casino. The link with Resorts Casino Hotel will allow PokerStars to offer fully-legislated online poker to the state of New Jersey when the new laws come into effect later this year.

PokerStars previously tried to access the New Jersey market in their attempts to buy Atlantic City Casino. The Rational Group, who own the online poker giant, maintain that a formal agreement was struck with Atlantic City Casino, before its owners reneged upon that deal. A bitter legal battle ensued, with a trial upholding all actions of the Atlantic City Casino owners.

With Resorts Casino Hotel now named as the land-based partner for PokerStars, New Jersey players will have access to the world's largest online poker room before the end of 2013. Rational Group CEO Mark Scheinberg described Resorts Casino Hotel as "a fantastic partner" in a recent statement, but made no mention of the ongoing legal wranglings with Atlantic City Casino.

New Jersey casinos are hot properties for online poker sites who wish to reach the US market. Bwin-Party recently announced a partnership with The Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa, while all Caesars Entertainment casinos are partnereed with 888 Poker.
